Monday: Jesus Clears the Temple!

When Jesus reached the temple in Jerusalem in the middle of the Passover Feast what he found was chaos and corruption. Pilgrims coming to the feast needed animals that met the ritual requirements for sacrifice and the vendors had conveniently set up pens of animals for sale right there in the temple courts. They also had set up money exchange tables right there in the temple courts because everyone had to buy the animals and pay the temple tax only using the local currency! It was a racket and Jesus was not happy!

Today’s readings: Matt 21:12-17; Mark 11:12-19; Luke 19:45-48
